Dr. Don Rogers was the former Eanes ISD Superintendent from 1974-1991. Dr. Rogers has received honors from almost every education related association in Texas for his contribution to public schools in a career that dates back to the 1959-60 school year. Most recently, he was recognized by Friends of Texas Public Schools and Pastors for Texas Children for a distinguished career in Texas Public schools in 2018. In 2015, National Rural Education Association named him to their Hall of Fame for his contributions to public rural schools. Dr. Rogers was a staunch supporter of the creation of the Eanes History Center and oversaw the upgrading of the classroom so it could be used for the growing collection of “pioneer artifacts” that local families donated tools and equipment long used on the old ranches, and old school books, photographs, and papers from former students of earlier school years.

Dr. Rogers can claim some genuine rural roots. He started school in 1940 in the Cadillac School, a one room school house with six grades located in Karnes County. He was a teacher in the Clarkwood ISD, a small rural school district in Nueces County, for the first ten years of his career before moving on to larger school districts. Don served in Deer Park ISD as a teacher and Sports Director, Killeen ISD as a junior high and high school Principal and Assistant Superintendent before becoming Superintendent of Schools of Eanes ISD, a position he held for 17 years. He worked as the former Executive Director of the Texas Rural Education Association for 12 years and is now a consultant for Powell Law Group. Dr. Rogers also serves on the Region 13 Education Service Center Board of Directors.
