Salma Charania is an attorney with extensive experience as a tax auditor, a litigator, and experience practicing in the field of tax consulting. She is based out of our Houston office, and focuses her practice primarily on real estate, construction, public finance transactions, Chapter 313, and general school law.

Prior to joining PLG, Salma worked with a defense firm where she worked extensively on a broad variety of commercial and business litigation cases, including premises liability, vicarious liability, products liability, construction,

breach of contract, and transactional matters. In her previous endeavors, Salma also represented several small to medium sized local businesses in tax transactions, specifically identifying and maximizing tax benefits.

Before attending law school, Salma worked at a big four accounting firm where she obtained her certification as a Certified Public Accountant. In her a capacity as a Certified Public Accountant, Salma serviced and represented several oil and gas companies, and healthcare providers in preparing their financial statements, legal, and mergers and acquisitions transactions.

During law school, Salma participated and was a semi-finalist in the Leroy Jeffers Memorial Moot Court Competition. Additionally, Salma was also a member of the South Texas Law Review where her brief, Discriminate Arbitration: How the Federal District Court’s Decision in Fernandes v. Dillard’s, Inc. Shows that Title VII Must be Unarbitrable, was published and received notable recognition. Furthermore, Salma received highest recognition for her Legal Research & Writing, and Contracts Drafting skills.

In addition to her passion for her legal work, Salma is an active member of her community. She serves on the Fundraising Committee for both Developments in Literacy and the Islamic Relief Fund. Salma is also an active member of the Houston Young Lawyers Association and assists with the Wills Clinic in her local community providing legal advice and assistance for indigent clients.
